Goals

A goal gathers the tasks that help one outcome succeed, such as “Close the Q3 books” or “Open a new branch”. A goal’s progress is worked out from the tasks that are done. Open it from the menu Work › Goals.

How to

Create a goal

  1. Go to Goals and press New goal
  2. Enter a Title (what do you want to achieve?) and a Description
  3. Choose a Priority, set a Due date, pick a Colour, and add a Cover image if you like
  4. Press Create goal

Add tasks to a goal

  1. Click the goal to open its details
  2. Press Add a task (or Add the first task if it has none yet)
  3. Fill in the task and save. The task also appears in To-dos

Alternatively, open a task on the To-dos page and choose the Goal field.

Choose a view

The bar at the top has several views:

  • Goals — cards or a list of all goals (switch under Layout: cards / list)
  • Dashboard — goals in progress, average progress, completed tasks, and anything overdue or due in the next two weeks
  • Roadmap — goals laid out over time
  • Board — tasks in To do / In progress / Done columns; drag to change status
  • Timeline and Calendar — see tasks by date

Filter by whose goals they are

Under Whose goals, choose Mine, Shared with me or All.

Share a goal with others

  1. Press the Share icon on the goal card (owners or co-owners only)
  2. Under Share with, choose people, groups or the whole organisation
  3. Choose a permission:
    • View only
    • Editor — can edit the content but cannot delete or reshare
    • Co-owner — can do everything, including delete and reshare
  4. Press Add. To stop sharing, press Stop sharing

Edit or delete a goal

Press Edit on the card to change its details, or press Delete. Careful: deleting a goal also deletes all the tasks in it.

You can ask Summy too

  • “What goals do we have, and how far along are they?”
  • “Create a goal ‘Open Chiang Mai branch’ due at the end of the year”
  • “Add a task ‘Find a location’ to the Open Chiang Mai branch goal”
  • “Mark this goal as achieved”
